Thank You Letter Tips for Construction Job Hunters

Thank you letters may not be the most common occurrence in the world of construction, but that is why writing a quick note to a construction recruiter to thank him/her after a job interview may just be what sets you apart from all the other job candidates.

Follow-up letters to a job interview are not the only occasion in which it is advisable to send a thank you letter. If a business contact has done a favour for you or helped you in some way, a letter or email to say thank you is very much in order. Writing a note to thank the person who was helpful to you is not only a nice gesture, but a polite way of letting a potential new business contact know that you would like to stay in touch.

Formal thank you letters can be sent either in hard copy or via email if that is the other person's preferred method of communication. While there are no strict rules regarding the content, thank you letters usually start with the expression of gratitude in the opening paragraph and end with a reinforcement of the sentiment at the end. The middle section can be used to explain to the construction recruiter or business contact how he/she was helpful to you or to mention a few details about a positive outcome of their actions.

If you are sending a thank you letter to a recruiter after a job interview, you may also take the opportunity to mention anything that you did not get a chance to bring up during the conversation, or to alleviate any concerns that you feel you may have raised with the recruiter or prospective employer while interviewing for the position. If there are not any, you can simply thank the interviewer for his/her time, for considering you for the job, and for any insights he/she offered during the interview.

See the example below to get a better idea of what a thank you letter usually looks like.
